April 25, 2006, Cincinnati, OH — THE MODAL SHOP, INC. provides quality testing systems for testing cast brake components such as calipers and anchors for flaws such as cooling related cracks, nodularity below specification, gross porosity and cold shuts. The nondestructive testing application using the Resonant Acoustic Method (NDT-RAM™) technique has proven effective for many major brake component manufacturers in Japan, United States, and Canada.
The NDT-RAM system tests the whole part for internal and external flaws, and provides an objective, quantitative analysis that can be automated to eliminate errors arising from manual inspection methods and human interpretation found on other NDT techniques. In addition to checking structural integrity of brake parts, NDT-RAM has also been used for measuring first natural frequencies of brake components to ensure NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) characteristics or requirements are met.
The NDT-RAM method provides 100% resonant inspection with no chemicals, magnetizing, part preparation or special handling required. NDT-RAM is an ideal tool if your parts are safety critical and field failure is intolerable. NDT-RAM is a dry test so it eliminates rust problems on cast parts inherent with “wet” tests such as ultrasonic testing. The entire process takes approximately one second per part, allowing for efficient quality control testing of all safety critical parts that come off of your production line.
Free parts tests are offered for feasibility testing of your parts and system rentals are available allowing you to prove the system in your factory before buying.
Significant trade-in credit is available for customers with competitive systems.
